“Now I don’t believe in nothing anymore cause love is permanent not temporary and it’s driven straight into our chests, then buried much too deep to just pull out like weeds in a garden it’s permanent, I’m sorry..”— ”Permanent - Colbie Caillat & Jason Reeves” Great song
i wrote this, for you, for me, for the world. dear you. yes, you. right there reading this. no this isn’t a joke, stop looking at me like i’m insane.
i’m no regular letter, i was meant, somewhere in this crazy destiny of ours, to land in your hands, for you to read. so look closely because you may read a few things that could change your life.
are you okay now? good. take a deep breath. in and out. it’s good for you, try it sometime when you get sad, or angry, or just downright stressed out. even when it’s a nice day out, go and just take a deep breath. it puts everything in perspective and it’s nice. just nice.
i want you to stop looking in that mirror so critically. i’m not saying get dressed in the dark, try doing your makeup going “look ma! no mirror.” yeah, that wouldn’t turn out very well, and while we’re at it, stop caking on that makeup, you don’t need it. i want you to look in the mirror, every morning, and see what i see. i want you to see how beautiful you really are. stop laughing, i get how cheesy that sounds, alright? i’m just a big letter of cheesy advice, but don’t you stop reading. don’t you dare.
i want you to wake up one morning and just call an old friend. tell them how much you miss them, tell them they mean something to you. tell them to have a nice day, and that you should hang out soon. then keep that promise, don’t just hang up the phone and sit on your butt. go out, have fun, reminisce on the good old days, make new memories. live your life. television and computers aren’t all that exciting. believe me.
i want you to look up at the sky tonight, pick a star, any star, and make a wish. make the most incredible, outrageous, and farfetched wish you can think of. will it come true? i have no idea, but you’ve got nothing to lose. so just do it, then i want you to smile. just really smile.
i want you to go home and give your mom and dad a hug. tell them how much you love them, who knows what tomorrow brings. remember, they love you too, as much as they may act like they don’t, they really do. they love you to death.
i want you to sit down on your bed, with a piece of notebook paper, and i want you to write a list. a really long list, of everything and anything you’ve ever wanted to do. tape it above your bed, look at it every morning. pick one easy goal and a hard one, try to get them both accomplished. if it doesn’t work, try again. you can do whatever you set your mind to, as long as you’re willing to work for it. trust me, it’ll happen for you.
lastly, i want you to take this letter, and find someone. whether it be someone you know, or not. find someone who looks like they need it, who need to smile, who needs to be told they’re beautiful because you’re not sure anyone has ever told them. go up to them, say hello, introduce yourself, and hand them the letter, and smile. you have no idea what you can do for someone. give someone the same joy this letter gave you.
